Due to clean up at the US Steel Plant Superfund Site along our tracks, the LS&M will remain closed for the 2021 season. A portion of the LS&M route passes through a section of the Superfund Project. This area requires removal of a bridge and track. Therefore, we are unable to travel through this site. Volunteers will focus on maintenance and upgrades to track and equipment during this season downtime.
Please consider giving to our fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds go to improving the tracks and rolling stock.
You can give any time so why wait, do it now. We appreciate any amount you can give!
2020 was the 150th Anniversary of the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad arriving in Duluth, the first tracks that helped build Duluth to what it is today! Due to COVID we were not able to celebrate this monumental event. We will continue to monitor the State and local COVID guidelines and find a suitable way to mark this historical event!
Stay tuned for more information on our start date and celebration activities!
