When will train trips resume?

We are expecting to be operating again in the July of 2023 after the clean up the former USS site is complete.

How long is the ride?

1 hour and 50 minutes to 2 hours. We travel about 6 miles and return on the same route.

What time do I need to arrive for the ride?

We start to board the train 15 minutes before scheduled departure so come about 30 minutes early.

Can we get on the locomotive?
-
We allow folks and children up on our Switch Engine locomotive starting about 25 minutes before departure times. Great photo opportunities of the family while in the locomotive. Toot the whistle and smile for the camera!

Is there handicap accessibility?

There are three large steps to get onto the train for those who are mobile and able to climb the steps. The antique coaches do not provide the space necessary for wheelchair accessibility, at this time.

Can I bring my pet on board?

Only licensed Service Dog that meets guidelines of LS&M Pet Policy. Must receive approval of Conductor prior to boarding. See LSMR pet policy click here

May we bring food on with us?

Yes you can, please be aware that our passenger cars are from 1912 so please pick up after yourself and help us keep our cars clean.

No alcoholic beverages allowed or smoking

Water, soda, and snacks are sold on the train.

Are there bathrooms on the train?

We have two chemical toilets, one on each passenger car.

Are the cars heated or air-conditioned?

There is no heat or air-conditioning on board. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What else can I do while waiting for the train departure?

Take a hike along the Western Waterfront Trail, visit the Lake Superior Zoo and or Spirit Mountain.
